Car has been loaded on to the train for about 16 hours now. We are an hour away from our destination, which I'll be reunited with the GSX again.

Body Work Post #1

Results so far today:

DSM-Strip

As the end of December draws closer, I realize time is running out quickly. If I am to do anything to the car before transporting it, it needs to be done now.

The most difficult thing to do to the car up north would be painting the car. So I will be tackling this, and finish  up the rest of the to-do-list of the car up north in Virginia.

                                          Before the stripping process.

                                          Spoiler removed

Sun roof is in pretty bad shape. I have a spare one in
much better condition, however it is in the early stages
                                          of rusting.

The timer starts

With the moving happening relatively soon, I've been hard pressed to find time for the GSX. I will be moving from Miami, FL to Blacksburg, VA.

I need to attempt to address the issues below before taking the car up to Virginia.

-Turbo needs to be replaced, as the seals are starting to go bad. ( Possible HTA68 ipgrade )
-If the above is upgraded, I will need to do the clutch. The current clutch will not handle the power of the new turbo. So a South-bend clutch upgrade would be in order.
-Take care of suspension parts, order 4 new tires, and 4 wheel alightment.
-Repaint the car.

This is the goal, before Dec 23rd.

To do:

  • Purchase Clutch
  • Inspect Center Diff ( ensure it is in working order )

Fuel Mileage Update - 4/1/15

With the Talon out of commission, I've noticed my monthly fuel cost has gone up quite a bit. Premium 93 octane is still much higher compared to regular 87 octane fuel. So I decided for this tank, I'd try driving a bit differently.

The conditions for this fill up was

  • On commutes to work, do not exceed 70MPH, and keep RPM's under 3500
  • Shift before 3000RPM.
  • Stay off the throttle/boost as much as possible

I can say I saw slight, maybe even better then small/slight results.

There was a day however when I was in a rush to work and broke my routine by going 80MPH. Also, there was a event that lead me to a 40 mile highway drive. So I'm not sure if my results are not true. I will be trying again this fill up to achieve the same, if not more MPG this time around.

Maintenance 3-27-15

Updates:

Replaced:

  • Front passenger wheel bearing ( was extremely noisy )
  • Replaced front passenger CV-joint/axel

Car has hit 157k miles, and quickly approaching 160k.

Attempting to remove rotor which was frozen/rusted in.                                                                          Needed to be pressed out

Also tracking fuel mileage.

GSX Blog Ressurection

Now that my 95 GSX is my only means of transportation, I can now focus all my efforts into making this car a fun, clean and reliable daily commuter for myself.

Quick check list of matters needing to be addressed ASAP are:

  • Passenger CV joint  ( Clicks pretty bad during hard turns )
  • Passenger wheel hub ( Bearing is pretty worn out, and makes a terrible howling sound after 40MPH+ )
  • Oil change

Things needing minor, but still important changes
  • Replace old worn out and no longer accurate Pro-Sport Boost Gauge
  • Replace AEM Gauge
Long term:

  • Add 7CM 02 Housing
  • Catch Can

Afterwards, we'll start working with the cosmetics of the car.
